StatCounter is probably one of the best web traffic trackers in last few years.
I use it on every site that I have and I have more than 80 sites.
This tool is free in Simple version and if you want Advanced version you have to pay 5-120$ depending on your needs.
Free version is enough if you need tracker for less than 1000 unique visitors per day per website.
It’s perfect for niche sites with 1000 and less visitors.
How to register on StatCounter?
If you want to register on StatCounter now go to their Homepage through this link.
Now click on Sign Up Now button and it will redirect you to register page.
StatCounter will not ask any Credit card or Paypal details, only personal info and Account username and password.
So let’s start, in Username field enter your username for ex: JohnUSA.
In next line enter your Email (enter valid mail).
Enter your full name (enter only First name) and there is one more empty field on register form and that’s your password, so put some long password there.
Accept terms and click Create account button.
Now you will get to Step 2 and that is your first project Setup.
Enter URL of your site (enter only Homepage link – main domain)
Enter Project title for ex: Mydomain.
Choose your country and your timezone.
Now if you do not want to show your tracking button on your website click Invisible tracking.
If you want to show button with visitors number choose some of the templates.
Also if you do not want to get spammy mails from Statcounter click None for Email Reports.
And now click Add Project and you are almost done.
You can choose Installation Guide for every CMS and website type but I will show you how to install Statcounter code on your WordPress site.
(You can install code on this way on other CMS scripts as well)
Now click on blue hyperlink: Default installation guide
You will get on this page where you will copy this Standard code from your code box.
Now you will go to your WordPress site, navigate to Wp Admin and go to Appearance -> Editor.
From templates on right side of your screen choose Header.php if you want to use invisible tracking.
Now find </head> and paste Statcounter code before that line.
Save file and that’s it, you are done.
But I want to show my button with visitors count on my website?
– If you want to show Visitors count paste your Statcounter code anywhere in Footer.php.
(You can use this button only if you choose Visible tracking)
That’s it. Now you will count every visitor on your site.
