StatCounter is one of the best free tracking services. I am using it on more than 150 sites. We are currently running 120+ porn sites, you can read my article on How I’m making money using porn sites.
Statcounter is a free tool, you can use the free version forever, and if you need something more advanced you can get an Advanced version ($5-$20 per month) depending on your needs.
A free version is enough if you have less than 20.000 unique visitors per day on your website. It’s perfect for niche websites with less than 10.000 visitors per day.
How to Register your StatCounter account?
If you want to register your account on StatCounter, go to their Homepage through this link. Now click on the green Try it for FREE button and it will redirect you to the registration page.
StatCounter will never ask you for your Credit card detail or your Paypal details.
So let’s start, in the Name field enter your Real Name. Enter your Email in the Email field (enter valid mail).
Enter your Nickname in the Username field, and there is one more empty field left on your registration form and that’s your password, so put some 10+ letter password there and you are ready to go.
Accept their terms and click on the Create account button.
You will get this Add your project page, now put your website’s URL in your project URL box, (enter your Homepage link only “your main domain”)
Enter your Project title, for example Onlineadrian Website. Choose your country and your time zone.
If you do not want to get spammy emails from Statcounter click None for Email Reports.
Choose Invisible tracking if you do not want to show your visitors count button on your website. If you want to show this small button with your visitor count, choose Visible counter.
Now click on the Add Project button and you are almost done.
Installation Guide is available for every single CMS, but I will show you how to install Statcounter code on your WordPress site.
Now click on the blue hyperlink: Default installation guide
You will get on this page where you will copy this Standard code from your code box.
Now you will go to your WordPress site, navigate to Wp-Admin, and go to Appearance -> Editor.
Choose Header.php from your templates on the right side of your screen if you want to use invisible tracking.
Now find </head> line in your header.php code and paste your Statcounter code before that line.
Save the file and that’s it, you are done.
I want to show my button with visitors count on my website
If you want to show Visitors count paste your Statcounter code anywhere in your Footer.php file.
(You can use this button only if you are using the Visible tracking option)
That’s it. Now you can count every single visitor on your site.
